Those aren't bruises they are badges of honor!

Let's start by saying bruising is completely unnecessary and can be avoided if you follow the recommendations from Mr dod (check the PARQ)

I have now been teaching Powerhoop for over 3 years and I am still loving it as my favourite fitness workout. Why? Because it is fun to teach and I love seeing your faces changing expressions either you are dropping the hoop or starting to move your arms or becoming intermediate and even advanced level! Proud of everyone for trying the Powerhoop Workout.

BUT!!!!!!! Too many of you I meet in the street, in shops, in events or I hear about saying you are scared to do Powerhoop because you get bruised and it hurts?!??

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THE FOLLOWING SAFETY INFORMATION AND CHECK THE HOOP SAFETY PAGE HERE

Ok.. here is a little message for you all scared Powerhoopers virgins. Trust me if it was that bad Powerhoop wouldn't be a success across the UK and instructors like me would not have busy classes.

WHAT IS A BRUISE?

"A bruise occurs when a traumatic injury is caused to any of the soft muscle tissues. This injury results in breakage of capillaries and leakage of red blood cells. It is a common phenomena when using a weighted hoop and is harmless and heals over a period of time without treatment. However, if you take medication for blood thinning please contact Mr dod for more information."

1. WILL I REALLY BRUISE DOING POWERHOOP?

LISTEN TO THE SAFETY INFORMATION and if it is your first time Powerhooping you will notice that during your first hooping track you may feel some sensitivity around your obliques, which is the side where our love handles like to rest, so the hoop keep spinning on you there essentially especially if your technique isn't forward and back motion. We encourage firs timers to only hoop for 2-4min depending on your personal body health. Ask Mr dod in the class what your risks are but there are NONE as it is a safe full body workout. Check our NEW USER GUIDELINES for more information.

2. DO EVERYONE BRUISE?

NO! Some are more susceptible than others to bruises. This is depending on your waistline, blood type and how much subcutaneous fat you may have underneath your skin layer. But don't worry Powerhoop can help you resculpt your body starting from a 6 weeks challenge so don't knock it until you tried it for 6 weeks at least!

3. WHY DO I BRUISE?

It could be different reasons. One being you have hooped for more than 2-4 minutes in your first class, you have really gone for it and your body armour is not yet set to the impact of a Powerhoop (you can always ask to start with a Powerhoop Slim which is lighter and doesn't have the inner wavy chambers). Or it could simply be that you have a thin blood and are taking medications. Always check with your doctor if you are unsure about doing any fitness workout.

4. WILL BRUISES STOP COMING?

Certainly! Your body needs to build a stronger body armour around your waistline which mean you will be immune to the impact from the Powerhoop and in less than 2-3 sessions your body will already be used to it so you can hoop longer gradually to increase from 2-4 minutes to 5-10 minutes then 10-15 minutes for more advanced hooping. When ready you can even start adding some weights as the Powerhoop Deluxe can do just that!

5. I HAVE NEVER BRUISED!? AM I NORMAL?

You are one of many Powerhoopers who will never bruise! Your blood is thicker, your body armour is already strong and you hoop with the right technique so fabulous! You are already on your way to the next level. You may only feel soreness on your obliques as like any fitness exercises using weights your muscles will react by telling you "ouch" thank you I needed that and now it will get stronger for your effort!

6. IS POWERHOOP GOOD FOR MY HEALTH?

Of course! In a 45 minutes Powerhoop workout you will burn between 420 and 1000 calories depending on your level, cardio strength and muscle strength. Powerhoop is great for your posture, spine alignment, upper back strength, lower back pain relief (if you suffer of spine problems or any bone related problems please contact me).

Thank you and let not get some little bruises that will disappear stop you from the UK's finest fitness workout with Mr dod!
